November Competition Reports by Mr. Peter Byrne, Club PRO

November 8th 2009 - Roll-Up Stableford Competition

The truly beautiful weather conditions on Sunday attracted a very respectable turn out of members for a highly competititive Stableford competition . Great credit to the the ever industrious and effecient ground staff for presenting the course in as good a condition as c ould be expected for the time of year.

As was expected  scoring was very good and 4 players  finished with 39pts and countback was needed to sort out the placings  . In fact  4 scores of 38 pts were also posted and on another day surely one of these would have been in the winners enclosure. Well done to all as most players in the field broke 30 pts .

The Land of Cymru provided two of the winners . Robert Fry off 14 had 8 pars and two  birdies and finished  1st . Newcomer to the podium Michael O Brien (17)   took 2nd place and our other Welshman  Jon Williams (14)  also had a cracking round  to nudge the ever brilliant Paul Guifoyle (7) out of 3 rd spot. Jon had back to back birdies on  the 13th and 14th and but for an unfortunate  scratch on the index one  1 st hole would surely have immerged  victorious .  Paul Guilfoyles  11 pars and a birdie amazingly just was nt enough on the day reflecting how well the scoring went.

Next Saturday  sees our second  V Par competition and this should give the lower handicappers an advantage !  Many thanks to our hard working secretary Charlie Logan ably assisited by Andrew Byrne for collating the scores so promptly.
