July 2009 Competition Reports by Mr. Peter Byrne, Club PRO
11th July 2009 - Roll-Up Stableford Competition
On Saturday 11 th July a keenly contested Stableford competition was played in Ballymoney Golf Glub . With the impending deluge
from above moving in it was expected the early starters would be in the prizes . However Ger O Brien ( 12) made light work of
playing most of the back nine in heavy unrelenting rain to immerge victorious with 19 pts to add to his 18 pts on front for a
winning score of 37pts . Ger won on countback from Richard Mackey (18) in 2nd place and Marty Lawler ( 8) in 3 rd place. Well done to all participants and a reminder to members next Sunday roll up Stableford competition will be played.
5th July 2009 - Roll-Up Stableford Competition
After enjoying conditions last week more associated with the Spanish Costas it was back to more traditional Irish weather
on Sunday 5th July at Ballymoney Golf Club . However a respectable turn out of members played a very competitive roll up
Stableford competition .The morning starters were blessed with the better playing conditions and escaped the quite heavy
showers that duly arrived in early afternoon .Despite the heavy precipitation from on high the course was in pristine condition,
particularly the immaculate greens , much to the credit of the ever industrious ground staff .
The man born and reared in the " big smoke " Mr Christie White certainly "smoked " the driver and subsequently carried the day!
Christie playing off 12 posted a score of 38 pts, good scoring considering the infamous Ballymoney Breeze was blowing strongly
on Sunday. Mr Ger O Brien made the short hop from the Harbour to finish in second place , also playing off 12 Ger had an
excellent 37 pts.
Mr Brendan Malone off 19 struck a welcome blow for the slightly higher handicappers scoring a very creditable 36 pts for
3rd prize .
Well done to all who took part, scoring was mainly good , a lot of players were just outside the prizes
